Day three off Black History Month. Today and everyday until I die I’m honoring the Ferguson protesters as #blackheroes Most people know their story but I’ll give it again anyways. On August 9th of 2014 the people of the working class town of Ferguson took to the streets to demand justice for Mike Brown who was shot to death by a police officer with his hands up. His body was lain out in the street without a cover for 4 hours and his murderer was never arrested. Over the course of months the people have peacefully assembled to demanded justice. They have been gassed, maced, arrested, beaten, had rubber bullets fired at them and real machine guns aimed at them. They have been joined by citizens, clergy and a select few politicians from all around the world physically, online and in prayers. Hundreds of thousands of dollars has been raised to support their efforts in demanding justice and building a stronger Ferguson community. Their bravery has inspired the national Black community to rise up to demand justice for those that died at the hands of police brutality. This is an ongoing chapter in Black history. Ferguson is everywhere. You can find demonstrations and community meetings at fergusonaction.tumblr.com
